Where is Eye Level?

You want to hang your art, but you are not sure how.

You are 5′ and your husband is 6’5"

What to do?

The pros refer to eye level. That is basically the center part of the art, 1/4 down from the top. (Some people think it’s dead center, but that’s not true.)

Eye level varies from space to space space — the proportions of the room, the height of the person(s) viewing and the person’s culture all play a role.  It is completely personal.

That being said, somewhere around 5′ or 5’5" is a good starting point.

There are some new tools that can help hang art.
Black and Decker makes a slew of leveling products.
