Part of the fun of what I do is seeing things come together. But it doesn’t happen every day.
Many of you might remember the custom cherry cabinet I am working on for a client.
Happy day today! I got a call from the re-finisher that they are ready for me to come and take a look at piece mid-stream.
You see, you can make stains darker, but lightening? That requires stripping and starting from scratch. The last thing I want to do is waste any one’s time, so I much appreciate the mid-project viewing. This way, we are all happy, most importantly the client. Plus, then I get to chat with the boys at the shop: Art Applications in Boston. They are a pleasure to work with.
In the picture are Bruce (left), the base center, and Doug (right).
The top drawer shows the base paint which is a grey/blue. Eventually that will be stained like you see in the door front. The whole piece will have a semi-gloss finish to bring out the richness even further. It’s a multi-step process and these guys really care about what they do.
There will also be a black detailing. It’s going to be stunn-ing. I cannot wait.
