With the 24 hours of doom and gloom on TV it can be hard to stay positive in this economy. The business of interior design is going through some changes. It was trending "luxury," but I am thinking "bling" is out while "price" is beginning to overpower "value and quality."
Me? I actually have a decent work load, some fun projects, but I am seeing a shift.
In particular —
-
more questions than normal on product
-
price being a prime concern (and sometimes an objection)
-
a longer than normal sales cycle — clients are taking longer to buy
-
projects being scaled back or done in stages
So I am interested in hearing from my readers — whether you are a client, an apt or home dweller or a fellow designer — how has the economy effected your behaviors and your thoughts about spending on your home. Really curious to hear from others.
